3D Medical Animation

HIGH-END MEDICAL ANIMATIONS

Here at Infuse, our 3D medical animators and creative directors know human anatomy. With our wide range of scientific animation skills and knowledge, we help medical device, pharma, and diagnostics companies tell complex stories through 3D medical animations that are accurate and visually stunning. Since 2009 we have been helping hundreds of medical companies create powerful scientific animations that allow them to sell, market, and train better. Our medical animations include deep dives into medical device functionality, new medical procedures, and how medication interacts with our bodies at the cellular level. Our team of animators can create any animation that you can think of and make it look like it was done in Hollywood. These visualizations are perfect teaching tools for students, medical professionals, and researchers alike as they can study the highly detailed medical animations before operating or performing any procedure on a human body.

MEDICAL ANIMATION FOR PROCEDURES

Our 3D medical animations focus on medical devices and the procedures that they are used in. We love helping medical device companies demonstrate how their medical devices help create new procedures and improve the healthcare that is available. Procedures that occur under the skin can be really difficult to visualize and understand. With our 3D medical animations, these complex procedures are easily understood because we are able to take a 3D animation camera under the skin to show how these medical devices are used for innovative procedures. Some of the specialties that we create medical procedure animations for are orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, podiatry, and respiratory. These visualizations make difficult-to-picture procedures come to life in the minds of medical professionals and scientists, helping them to perform more effectively, safely and with the foreknowledge that comes from previsualization.

SCIENTIFIC ANIMATION FOR MOA

The scientific animations we create dive into the mechanism of action (MOA) for how medicines, devices, and treatments work at a cellular level. Since it is difficult or impossible to show these interactions in real life, our science animations show these cellular processes in a way that is easily understood and visually appealing. These visualizations are extremely useful for medical professionals, scientists, and students as they gain a better understanding of complex and hard-to-imagine processes in the human body. This cutting edge method of demonstrating these MOAs is revolutionizing the way people comprehend life-changing concepts.

MEDICAL ANIMATION FOR PRODUCTS

Our 3D product animations are a great way to highlight features and benefits of a product that you can’t show through traditional media. With our product medical animations, viewers can see the inner working of your products that they wouldn’t be able to otherwise. We also create teaser product animations that are an elegant way to get people excited about your upcoming product launch. Countless hours of research, fabrication, fine tuning, and quality assurance go into your new medical products; highlight that with a 3D scientific model that will show the inner workings and details of your efforts.

INTRICATELY-DETAILED, QUALITY GUARANTEE

When we are working for a client, whether on a medical device, a visualization of a medical procedure, or a microscopic mechanism of action (MOA), we know that the only standard is perfection. These visualizations are for life-and-death procedures, and our scientific animations have to be up to the very highest standards. When we create a 3D medical product animation for you, or a 3D medical procedure animation, or a 3D MOA animation, you can rest assured knowing that we will deliver a product that will help your medical professionals, researchers, and students gain a better understanding of the product or process.

Our animators are highly-trained and we understand not only the field of 3D animations, but anatomy, physiology, and product development. When you work with us, you are working with people who know what they’re doing and who have a proven track record of success. It’s because of this success that we can produce the kinds of medical animations that we do. It’s because of this success that we have loyal clients to come to us again and again to deliver the same high-quality, intricately-detailed work you’re looking for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is the cost of a 3D medical animation?

A: Costs can vary drastically depending on the content. Things like soft tissue, articulate movements such as a coil, or anything with a lot of dynamic particles take longer to produce which means added budget. However, after creating more than five hundred animations we’ve determined a 90 to 120 second animation can cost anywhere between $15,000 – $35,000. If you have a project in mind that you would like us to bid, we would love to talk with you and provide a free estimate.

Q: How are 3D animations made?

A: 3D animations are made using special animation software and sometimes multiple types of software and or plugins. It begins with a 3D scene that is well lit. Shapes and objects are created, textured and eventually animated. When the artist is finished animating, they send a render batch to our render farm which consists of many high-powered servers. Each server on the farm begins processing images from the animation 1 frame at a time. When all of the frames or images have been rendered, the images are then imported into post-compositing software. Think of it like a flip book with a stick man you used to see as a kid. When many images are flipped one at a time, it creates an illusion that the drawing comes to life! We then add text and other types of effects in post-compositing and then finally export a final video file which is usually a .mov or .mp4 file.

Q: What is the process for making a medical animation?

A: We begin with an outline or creative brief which helps us develop a storyboard. Once the storyboard is approved, we begin setting up scenes, lighting, and modeling and typically send a “still render” of the scene (a .jpg file) to get approval on devices or anatomy accuracy. Then we begin to animate. Once animation is complete we send a “playblast” which is a rough version of the animation in black and white, to get approval on movements and positioning without spending a lot of time rendering. Once the playblast is approved we deliver a fully rendered version of the animation and add any music, VO or visual effects, at what we call “Half Resolution.” Half Resolution renders save time and give you the option to provide feedback. Once all feedback is implemented, we deliver a full HD version of the animation in its final form.

Q: What do clients need to provide for a 3D animation?

A: Any visuals, marketing collateral or surgical procedure guides are very helpful, but not required. If your animation involves a device of some kind, a 3D CAD file from you engineers will save on modeling time and ensure your device is 100% accurate in your animation. We prefer to receive 3D CAD files in these exported formats: .stp or .step, .stl, .obj, .iges, or even a solidworks assembly file .asdasm.

Q: How can I get the most out of my 3D medical animation?

A: Preparation and communication. The best animations come from those who are prepared and know what their needs and requirements are. The more detail you can provide in the creative brief and storyboard process, the better the end result will be. Try to avoid vague direction, as this will most likely result into “spinning the wheels” and jeopardize both the timeline and the budget.

Q: How long does it take to create a medical animation?

A: It all depends on the complexity, total run-time, and the amount of feedback required to complete your animation. Typically, you can expect a 90 second to 120 second run-time project to take anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks. However, when a rush fee is required, we have created animations in 2-3 weeks. We definitely recommend planning ahead and expecting the typical 6-10 weeks as it allows time to produce the best and most accurate product you require and something you can be proud of.
